Bluegrass Distillers’ Downtown Lexington Distillery is conveniently located just 10 minutes off I-64. Production began in 2012, and the distillery opened to the public in November 2015. In 2020, Bluegrass Distillers announced plans for a new distillery at the historic 62-acre Elkwood Farm in Midway, KY, which will offer a grain-to-glass experience. Operations at the new site will begin in Summer 2024, while the Lexington distillery will remain open, offering new experiences. Visit their website for updates on the new location and tours.
Bluegrass Distillers is known for their award-winning Blue Corn Bourbon. The first and only Kentucky distillery to do so, Bluegrass wanted to showcase the unique flavor profile of this non-GMO heirloom grain.
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces Bluegrass Distillers Wheated Bourbon
1 tablespoon Muddled Berries
3/4 ounce Rosemary-Infused Simple Syrup
3/4 ounce Lemon Juice
1 splash Club Soda
Instructions/Notes
Add muddled blueberries to rocks glass. Add Bourbon, simple syrup and lemon juice to cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 10 seconds, strain, and serve over blueberries and ice. Top with club soda and stir.
All distilleries offer a tasting at the end of their standard tour. Some offer tasting-only experiences as well. But remember, slow down, savor your experiences and drink responsibly.
Under Kentucky law, visitors can purchase up to 9 liters per customer, per day at distillery gift shops. Options to ship product back to your home may be available. Please consult with each distillery and know that your state laws might prohibit shipping.
While each distillery tour is unique, plan on spending at least an hour and a half at each to tour, taste, and visit the gift shop. Many distilleries offer extended and abbreviated tours in addition to a standard one hour tour. While there are no admission fees to visit your favorite distilleries, all distilleries charge a fee for their tours. Some distilleries have abbreviated or extended specialty tours that vary in cost.
