With its towering dual 45' Vendome Copper & Brass column stills, Garrard County Distilling Co. is the first commercial distillery in the formerly dry county just south of Lexington since the 1800s. A visit to Garrard County Distilling Co. features the reconstructed stone cabin of Carrie Nation, a temperance crusader. Their All Nations whiskey nods to saloon posters reading, “All Nations Welcome Except Carrie,” from the 1800s.

The Lancaster Local Old Fashioned

Ingredients

3 ounces All Nations 96 Proof Bourbon

1/2 ounce Staghorn Sumac Berry-Infused Simple Syrup

3 dashes Black Walnut Bitters

1 Maraschino Cherry

1 Dehydrated Orange Slice

Hickory Smoking Chips

Instructions/Notes

In a mixing glass with ice, add simple syrup, All Nations 96 Proof Bourbon, and Black Walnut Bitters. Stir to mix the ingredients, and then strain into a rocks glass with large ice. Using a cocktail smoker, smoke the cocktail with Hickory Wood Chips. Garnish the cocktail with a Maraschino Cherry and a Dehydrated Orange Slice.
