Lexington’s RD1 Spirits exists to ask “what else can Bourbon do?” They explore what happens to Kentucky Straight Bourbon when unique wood staves are added to the original barrel to finish aging the whiskey. At their Tasting Room & Gift Shop, they’ll take you on a sensory journey with their Kentucky Straight Bourbon and three wood-finished expressions (French Oak, Brazilian Amburana Wood, and Double Finish In Oak and Maple). You will discover your palate preferences, thief Bourbon from a barrel, and experience unique offerings not seen at other places. Afterward, shop their Bourbon and unique gifts.

RD1 crafts impressive Kentucky Straight Bourbon to celebrate the firsts in your lives – those who were first to create, first to believe, first to remove barriers. Just like the gutsy mavericks who built Lexington’s first registered distillery in the late 1800s, RD1 was started in 2020 by modern-day entrepreneurs who have the spirit to dare, a gift all firsts possess.
Ingredients
.75 oz RD1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished with Brazilian Amburana Wood, 110 proof
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.75 oz Aperol
.75 oz Amaro Nonino
Instructions/Notes
Add all ingredients to shaker and shake well. Strain into glass. Serve up with lemon peel garnish.

All distilleries offer a tasting at the end of their standard tour. Some offer tasting-only experiences as well. But remember, slow down, savor your experiences and drink responsibly.
Under Kentucky law, visitors can purchase up to 9 liters per customer, per day at distillery gift shops. Options to ship product back to your home may be available. Please consult with each distillery and know that your state laws might prohibit shipping.
While each distillery tour is unique, plan on spending at least an hour and a half at each to tour, taste, and visit the gift shop. Many distilleries offer extended and abbreviated tours in addition to a standard one hour tour. If you’re interested in times for a specific distillery tour, visit that distillery’s website for availability.
While there are no admission fees to visit your favorite distilleries, all distilleries charge a fee for their tours. Some distilleries have abbreviated or extended specialty tours that vary in cost. Please visit each distillery’s website to explore pricing. Be sure to plan ahead. Some distillery tours book up months in advance.
