It's fall and that can only mean one thing here at Wilderness Trail — time to dig in to some delicious chili that's been prepared for a good cause. The second annual Charity Chili Cook-Off on Oct. 20 is our fundraiser to assist the Danville Kiwanis' Christmas for Kids and Seniors. We're enlisting some of the best chili cooks and ask you to come and choose your favorite for the People's Choice Award. Tickets are $10 and allow you to enjoy unlimited tasting. You may obtain tickets by calling us at 859-402-8707. Since this event benefits kids we're pulling out all the stops to make this a family friendly event: free pumpkin decorating, free children's books from the Boyle County library bookmobile and free face painting. Have you posed for a family photo lately? Now is your chance. Angela Frisby Photography will offer sessions for family portraits settings that includ . 2 to 4 edited digital images for $25. You can schedule in advance by calling 859-583-7579 or walk up at the event. We have a panel of celebrity judges who are assigned the tough task of selecting a chili cook-off winner. Former University of Kentucky basketball star Cameron Mills, Boyle County football Coach Chuck Smith, syndicated UK sports columnist Larry Vaught and Kentucky Taste Buds, Leigh Roach and Tamara Schneider, will lend their discerning palates to determine the winners. Tim Estes, DJ EZE, will keep the party hopping. We hope you will come hungry and join us for a great cause, but we also welcome you as a cook or vendor. If you are interested, please contact us before Oct. 12. This event owes a lot to great sponsors. Here are the sponsors who are supporting this worthy cause. Platinum Kentucky Cooperage, PNC Bank and Sellers Engineering Gold Bruce Devine Roofing and Gibson for Boyle PVA Silver Community Trust Bank, Corning, Farmers National Bank and Stuart Powell Ford Mazda LIncoln. Bronze Caverndale Farms, Central Kentucky Federal Savings, Danville Eye Center, Hayslett Mechanical, InterCounty Energy, Melton's great American Deli II and Wilderness Trace Solar.
