In 2023, Buzzard’s Roost opened on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, and they are now finishing their own whiskey in “Buzz Cauldron,” their 75-gallon pot still. It features the micro-still, tasting rooms and a speakeasy-style lounge that can be booked for experiences and private parties. The bar is open to the public and serves signature cocktails and flights. Buzzard’s Roost is known for its award-winning double-oaked bourbons and specialty bottlings. At the distillery, you can discover a limited release offering that is not sold anywhere else. Buzzard’s Roost has several unique experiences where visitors learn about bourbons with engaging sensory tastings and storytelling.

Buzzard’s Roost is recognized for flavor created during secondary maturation. They have 17 proprietary barrels and are able to identify and pull desired flavors from the wood to create award-winning whiskies.

Smoky Old Fashioned

Ingredients

2 ounces Buzzard’s Roost Char 1 Bourbon

1/4 ounces Bourbon-Smoked Simple Syrup

Dash of Ginger Bitters

Dash of Cherry Bitters

Flamed Orange Peel

Luxardo Cherry to garnish

Instructions/Notes

Partially fill mixing glass with ice. Add ingredients and stir. Pour cocktail into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Carefully ignite orange peel to release flavor and rim glass with the peel. Discard the peel (or add to the cocktail for extra orange flavor.) Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.

To make Bourbon-Smoked Simple Syrup, mix equal parts, water and bourbon-smoked sugar.
