The Becker & Bird Bird Distillery is among the most historic spirits sites in America. The original distiller, John Baker, fought in the American Revolution and distilled in Washington County, Pennsylvania during the Whiskey Rebellion. John moved to Augusta, Kentucky in 1797 and continued to distill. Today the Becker & Bird Distillery produces the internationally acclaimed Bourbon that honors John Baker. The site is home to not only the distillery, but also houses the Baker-Bird Winery. As a part of the experience, you will get to tour the largest, oldest wine cellar in America, on the National Registry of Historic Places, and the only winery to have survived a Civil War Battle.
CLAIM TO FAME
In 1761, Johannes Becker came to America at the age of thirteen, fought in the American Revolution, changed his name to John Baker and distilled at the current site by 1798. Today, the Distillery’s Bourbon, brandy, and Bourbon barrel aged wines are internationally acclaimed.
